The Role of the Principal in Improving the Quality of Education

A leader is a person who stands at the top of the organization he leads, a person who is trustworthy, honest, visionary, and always brings change for the better. A principal is a person who leads educators, staff and students in a school. In this sense, the principal is a leader who is admired and imitated in all his actions. This research uses a literature study method that analyzes references to several journals as a reference in determining a good school principal. The aim of this research is to explore and analyze previous research findings regarding the role of school principals in improving the quality of education. Based on the results of the reference analysis, the principal who acts as a leader must be proactive, reliable in carrying out his duties, able to make all decisions wisely, and able to manage the existing school. Utilizing school resources as a means of school development to produce a generation with noble character. School principals can analyze their school's needs both in terms of infrastructure needs and quality improvement strategies so that they can compete with more advanced schools, and can negotiate with other school principals to build visionary, collaborative relationships. Can read the future, can make long-term plans to face future challenges, can motivate teachers to improve their quality by attending training, seminars to be innovative and active. Awards are given to teachers who are proactive and creative in order to increase the work enthusiasm and fighting spirit of teachers to progress further and become better.
